Frequently asked questions
About the Show
How long is the Michael Jackson tribute show?
Show lengths vary depending on the event. Options include:
- Showcase Performance (15-30min) – High-impact entertainment in a digestible format.
- Full-Length Performance (45-60min) – A substantial featured performance without the full theatrical production footprint.
- Concert-Style Show (70-90min) – A full-length theatrical production with a storyline, costumes, lighting, and special effects.
Do you dance like Michael Jackson?
Yes. This is a dance-centered production, focused on reimagining and reinterpreting Michael Jackson’s distinct vocabulary of movement and choreography, presented with clarity and respect for the original work.
Do you sing live?
Matt Walsh incorporates both live vocals and expertly crafted performance tracks, depending on the song’s technical demands. Some numbers require the full energy of high-intensity choreography, while others showcase live vocal ability.
What is the difference between a Michael Jackson impersonator and a tribute artist?
The difference lies in the intent of the performer.
Impersonator – An impersonator performs as Michael Jackson, imitating his look, persona, voice, mannerisms, and character in public settings, often for meet & greets, or brief appearances. The term is broad and can describe anyone from a casual look-alike to a character performer. It does not imply production value or performance scale.
Tribute Artist – A tribute artist delivers a concert-style performance honoring Michael Jackson’s music and choreography, using their own identity onstage. This focuses on artistic interpretation, professional choreography, staging, and live entertainment—not character impersonation.
Matt Walsh
Matt Walsh is a tribute artist. He performs Michael Jackson’s material as himself, not as Michael, through a serious, professionally produced show that honors, respects, and builds upon the legacy of the source material.
How This Tribute Show Stands Apart
Matt Walsh offers a production focused on delivering a reliable, high-quality experience that elevates an event without overstating claims.
Concert-Style Production
The show is structured like a compact, touring-style performance designed to integrate smoothly into corporate, private, and theatre environments.
Anti-Gravity Lean Stunt
The Smooth Criminal lean is performed live using professional equipment and trained technique. Matt Walsh is one of the very few tribute artists who tours with this stunt as part of a standard show offering.
Audience Impact
Thousands of guests worldwide still talk about Matt’s performances years later because of the emotional impact the show leaves on each audience.
